What VIP / Shighra Darshan actually is
“VIP Darshan” at Mahakaleshwar is more accurately called Shighra Darshan — “quick” darshan. It is a paid ticket that moves you into a faster queue for the ordinary darshan of the Jyotirlinga, available through the temple’s regular open hours, not at 4 AM. It exists so that pilgrims on a tight schedule can avoid the long free line during busy periods. It is a convenience upgrade to a routine darshan — it is not a ticket to a ceremony.
